You Weren’t Meant to Run on Empty
Share
I am not naturally an early riser—though I’m not a night owl either. I simply love my sleep. But there’s something energizing about waking before the sun. Getting out of bed just 30–45 minutes before the first light breaks over the horizon makes me feel like I’ve won the day—like I’ve accomplished something before it even begins.
This is the time I use to do something for me.
Too often, “self-care” feels like a four-letter word among mothers. Running ourselves ragged, pouring from an empty cup—it’s become a badge of honor.
But from one friend to another: you weren’t meant to run on empty.
Say it with me: I wasn’t meant to run on empty!
When I give myself permission to do something each day that fills my cup, I can pour into others generously.
Here are a few of my favorite self-care activities:
✨ Exercise
✨ Listening to music
✨ Talking to God
✨ A hot bath or shower
What’s your perspective on self-care? Do you have go-to activities, or do you struggle to give yourself permission to recharge?
Because your well-being matters, and you are worth tending to.
